2016 TUMBLEWEED

As usual, our Tumbleweed Couples Tournament is a very popular tournament among couples of Western Oklahoma and Texas towns within 200 miles. This year, we had 65 couples and eight flights!

This year, as well, I had the opportunity of playing with my wife and best friend, Mona, and was able to experience, from the "inside" on why this tournament is among the favorites of all couples. I had a lot of fun, even though the second day we scored four strokes higher than the first day (66-70).

As it is tradition, ALL TIES are decided in a playoff, and this year, this included a playoff for first place in the Championship Flight, where Rusty Wilson and daughter Kelsi, won in the first playoff hole with a birdie against Joby Gray and Haley Gunkel.

Also, as it is tradition in Elk City, on Friday before the tournament, there is a horse race (or shootout), which this year was won by Joby and Haley in a sudden death playoff against David and Rachel Poole.
