HAMMON ALUMNI 2016

The Hammon Alumni for 2016 had a new tournament organizer who wanted to make it more casual and fun, and by all practical purposes, he achieved his goal.

Tim Gwartney came up with three different props for the 18 hole scramble. On one hole, you had to roll the ball with your hand,he first  sounds kind of strange, but, it is not as easy as you think so; on another hole teams bough distance (needed in most cases), and in another hole, players had to put with a spherical headed putter, a head slightly bigger than a golf ball, specially manufactured to train your putting stroke... if you do not keep this device in a straight line, contact will be off center and the ball goes sideways -see picture.

I have a ball like this one for Alan Shockey
who saved money by not making a Hole
in One... (he saved roughly $300 in drinks!)
I had to check out how this device worked and went to numbert10 to watch some players adapted (or not) and take some pictures... low and behold, the very first group of two teams , showed both, how to use it and how NOT to use it. While one group made a putt from about 12 feet, the other missed a 2-Foot putt four times before making the short putt with a mulligan on the fifth try.

The results were as follows:

1st - 56
Victor Orange
Alan Shockey (who almost made a hole in one on #10)
Rusty Allen
Dennis Cates

Tie 2nd - 61
Mike Higgins (12 footer with a funny putter, not bad!)
Jeff Morton
Cory Wilson
Jase Newcomb

Tie 2nd - 61
Dereck Orange
Curtis Irwin
Sean Rogers
Larron Landers

See you next year!

P.S. By the way, it was nice to have a couple of players who are not officially "Hammon Alumni" come and share a morning with their friends!
