2016 MEMBER-GUEST

At the beginning of Saturday, May 14, it looked like our annual Member-Guest would be a "washout" like last year, when it rained and it blew and it got cold, and Rusty Wilson, then club president, with lots of sorrow, had to call it off. As it turned out, it was the right choice for that day. It never stopped raining.

Last Saturday, the day started very similarly, and the weather forecast was very uninviting for walking in the park, let alone golf. But, God is Good, as in GOOD! And what it looked like another washout, turned to be a great day for golf, with temperatures in the 70's (may have topped y the low 80's), sunlight and a little breeze.

All thirty plus teams completed play without a problem, and those who pulled out before the tournament, really missed on some great fellowship with other members and their guests. Moral of the story: WAIT, DON'T PULL OUT!

This year we had guests from east and west of the United States, Phoenix and Pennsylvania, who were treated to the great conditions of this diamond in the rough of Western Oklahoma, along with the great hospitality that Elk City is so well known for (my guess is, they'll be back!). By the way, just a couple of weeks after our left handed rental set was never returned, Charlie Kauk saved the day for one of these guests, who happens to be left handed ad whose clubs did not make it to Oklahoma! Thank you Charlie!

By the way, there were four teams who made an eagle 2 on Par-4 holes:
Conner Carlucci & Andy Elizondo #1; Jason Minter & Greg Minter #9, Dustin Gunkel & Alfred Galyean #9 and Brad Gilbert & Jerry Bynum #14.
