FUN AND SUCCESS IN GREAT PLAINS NATIONAL BANK OUTING

The annual outing of the Great Plains National Bank is more of a party than a tournament, but, in the end, it is a tournament in a "take it all" day... sort of.

First, there are 18 prizes, one per each hole for closest to the pin, straightest drive, longest putt, etc for the participants. Then, there is a raffle for a nice club with the proceeds going to a charity, and then, of course, there is a prize for first place and for last place. Not fair? Consider this, the tournament is free to those who participate as GPN Bank pays the course rental, food -morning and afternoon-, prizes and drinks on the course (you ought to taste those margaritas!)

This year, Jeff Waters, from the main branch in Elk City was "thrown a curve" when two teams tied for first (Matt McAlla, Jason Gunter, Rick Patton & Edddie Davis tied at 55 with the team of Gerald Shorter, Mark Nelson, Al Deaver & Kelley Bowen) and suggested that they had a putt-off for a tie breaker. So, out we went. The two teams were divided into two 2-Man tams playing a one hole putting scramble and adding the scores. All 2-Man teams scored a 2 in the hole, so the final tie breaker was a closest to the hole in a wicked, breaking, downhill putt, with all four players from each team, hitting one one putt.

McAlla's team took an early lead when Eddie Davis putted to 4 feet, which was beat by six inches with the last putt of the Gerald Shorter team, but, Rick Patton had something left in the tank on his team's last putt and stopped the ball, just inches short in a putt than
no one had been able to stop shot of the hole to win first place.

Last place, which we must mention, and which Jeff Waters won a few times when bank employees and management played with their customers -the last two years it has been exclusively for bank customers-, went to Kolby Miller, Kelby Merz, Brian Merz, Janet Merz who managed a cool 77.
Tasty "Margaritas"!

Other good scores in the outing were 58's by Greg Dodson, Toby Davis & Mike Clinton (a three man team) and another three man team of Charlie Green, Brad Overton and Chris Christenson, and 60 by two teams: Craig Clark, Mickey Clark, Mike Clark & Joe Knapp who tied with Clay Toole, Cody Toole, Jay Cross and Kacy Marquart.

See you next year!
